This week we have been learning about Queen Victoria and her impact on Britain. After completing a fact sheet about Queen Victoria the children recreated Victorian inventions such as the phone and a Victorian train. We stood up and presented facts about our inventions and how they changed the world.

Y2 Be Active Day
This week, Year 2 took part in the Be Active day. The children loved taking part in the different activities and learning new skills. Dave, the Skip2befit coach, completed a HIIT course with the children and they loved seeing how far they could push themselves! Even Mr Todd and Miss Padgett got involved!
BE ACTIVE
Today, we celebrated being active and were lucky enough to have TWO PE coaches in to work with us. We enjoyed a HITT workout and a competitive game of dodgeball.
Year 2 den building
This week in forest school we linked our activity to our learning mission work of Kings and Queens. The children had to create a waterproof shelter for their knight. The children were limited to just leaves, sticks and mud to create their shelters. They really enjoyed the problem solving and creating a shelter for their figure.
Stonehenge
We have been learning about Stonehenge this week. During provision in Learning Mission, children used clay to make replicas.
Stig of the dump
At forest schools, we built models of Stig’s cave which helped us with our descriptive writing.
The MAMMOUTH!
We have had a visit from a mammouth, which Year 3 have named Molly!
She inspired lots of questions linked to our learning of the Stone Age.
Year 2 science – habitats
This week in science we carried on our topic, ‘living things and their habitats’, by exploring the different features of habitats that animals need in order to survive. The children used different crafting materials to create a habitat that was suitable for their habitat.
Year 2 division concept lesson
This week, we begun our new topic of division in maths. The children took part in a concept session where they were able to explore division using different resources. The children loved exploring in maths and have been using this knowledge to build on their star challenges this week!
Hunter-gatherers
Today we have been learning how Stone Age hunter-gatherers lived. We discovered they were the first farmers and communicated through cave paintings. We learnt that not all food that can be gathered is safe. We went on a scavenger hunt to find poisonous no non-poisonous fruits.
