Boat racing at the pond

Hello everyone,

Our big idea question this week has been ‘Can we design a ship better than Shackleton’s?’

We started by drawing a plan of our ship and labelling important features such as navigation systems, food storage systems and many more. After this, we brought our models to life by making boats out of paper and decorating them with card, glue and other materials.

Once the masterpieces were complete, the children asked if we could test them in the pond. Before we went, we made predictions about whether they would float, sink, capsize or drift away on the water.

Once up there we had so much fun! We took it in turns to place our boats on the water and watch what unfolded! Here’s some pictures.
