We had a challenge to represent 3 digit numbers in as many ways as we could. Amazing team work and mathematical language Year 3!

Researching volcanoes
As part of our learning in English, we have been learning about volcanoes and what happened to Mount Vesuvius in Pompeii. The children used non-fiction books and recorded facts they found. We shared our knowledge as a class, we have learnt so many interesting things.
Erupting volcanoes!
We have been learning about what the effects of a volcanic eruption are during learning mission this week. The children painted some pretty epic erupting volcanoes too!
Rock Classification
Today we have been exploring and classifying rocks based on their properties. Children observed each rock carefully and decided how they would group them, known as classifying. Hazel class if full of super scientists.
Sketching
We observed the rocks, fossils, crystals and pebbles from our Learning Mission display to help us sketch them. Wonderful observational work Year 3!
Descriptive writing
In English this week, we have been adding description to our writing to make it interesting and more complex, using adjectives and using conjunctions too. The children have loved exploring the fossils, stones, bones and crystals in our classroom.
PE!
In P.E we have been running a mile and competing in races. The children showed great sportsmanship, cheering each other on.
Forest schools fun!
At forest schools this week, we had some VERY happy and excited children who found worms, both mum and baby. They carefully created a home for them, thinking of what they would need to make it a suitable habitat.
Other children were also making mini dens for different creatures. Super imaginations and team work!
Story maps!
In English we have been enjoying reading our core text, The Pebble In My Pocket. The children listened to Miss Padgett read the story and we discussed different vocabulary. The children listened to the descriptive language and drew pictures of what they imagined this to look like.
Mathematician’s!
We have been exploring 3 digit numbers this week. Children have shown great understanding of place value through a variety of different activities. There has been lots of discussing and partner work too.
